2014 has been a whirlwind of a year for Stillwater Communications! Check out some of our highlights below.

Pieta House

This was our fourth year working with Pieta House on Darkness into Light which is now established as one of Ireland’s most powerful and moving mornings. On Saturday, May 10th over 80,000 people got out of their beds at 4am to walk in solidarity for suicide prevention. The walk reached foreign shores for the first time this year as walkers in London and Sydney joined us on this very special morning.

NO REPRO FEE 10/05/2014. An estimated 80,000 people turned out at 37 locations across Ireland, as well as venues in London and Sydney, on Saturday morning, 10th May for Pieta House’s annual Darkness into Light 5km dawn walk/run with Electric Ireland. The flagship event in the Phoenix Park reached full capacity with 10,000 supporters taking part. www.pieta.ie Pictured is Lorraine O'Donnell from Tallaght. Photo: Sasko Lazarov/Photocall Ireland

Cilian Fennell

Cilian continued his jet-setting this year with numerous trips to San Francisco and Shenzhen as he worked with hardware start-ups on PCH International’s accelerator programme, Highway 1. Cilian worked on the start-ups’ pitching skills, helping them to raise over $40m this year alone. One of our favourite products is Irish company, Drop, which has just launched it’s ipad connected kitchen scale.

Slándáil

This year we started working on an EU project, Slándáil, which is investigating how social media can be used by emergency services during natural disasters. In June Cilian & Tara went to Reykjavik, Iceland, to deliver a presentation on disaster communications at the LREC Conference while October saw a trip to Belfast for the second plenary meeting.

2014 - The Year of Confidence

2014 was definitely a year of confidence! Over the past few years Natasha has been on a mission to make Ireland confident. She realised that while a lot of people might have the skills for their jobs, many of them lacked the confidence which enabled them to excel. This year saw a huge amount of confidence coaching within various organisations as well as delivering presentations on three IMAGE Magazine business events.

Pieta House - Men in Mind

November 19th marked International Men’s Day and with it brought Pieta House’s inaugural With Men in Mind event. Hosted by Brendan O’Connor with guest panellists, author, Michael Harding, Dublin Footballer, Paul Flynn, Founder of Men’s Sheds Ireland, John Evoy, and Pieta House therapist, John Searson, With Men in Mind was an evening of discussion and manter on what it means to be a man in Ireland today. The event was accompanied by a fantastic drawing by artist, Joe Caslin, which was displayed on the front façade of the Powerscourt Centre.

It’s the variety of our work that we love most. We’re lucky to work with some of the leading media, pharmaceutical, utility, and retail companies in the country. We definitely felt that the stories they’re telling are becoming more positive this year after six very tough years. We wish them all great success in 2015.
