When we began working with Oireachtas na Gaeilge in 2007, it was a little-known organisation which ran a number of small events such as Gradam Chumarsaide, the relatively-unknown Irish language media awards. In 2008, we devised a strategy including PR, sponsorship negotiation and production for the awards, which proved to be a huge success. The Irish language media awards have now become one of the social highlights of the Irish language media sector in Ireland and Oireachtas na Gaeilge is now recognised as the leading promoter of traditional Irish language and art.
At the 2016 awards, TG4 was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by President Michael D. Higgins. Other winners on the night included Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh for her weekly RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta show ‘Bláthnaid Libh’, Stíofán Ó Fearail from Gaeltacht band Seo Linn and Alan Titley, Irish Times columnist.
